
Performance of the opera Aida at the Temple of Hatshepsut October 26 and 28, 2019
4,000 tourists from around the world are expected to attend the upcoming performance of the opera Aida in Luxor, Egypt. The famous opera will be performed at the Temple of Hatshepsut on October 26 and 28, 2019.
“Aida”, by Giuseppe Verdi. is a unique and dramatic opera set in the Old Kingdom Egypt. The Ethiopian princess, Aida, is captured and enslaved by the Egyptians. Aidas captors do not know she is a member of the Ethiopian royal family. Aida catches the eye of an Egyptian military commander named Radames who becomes her lover. As a result, Radames struggles to choose between his love for her and his loyalty to the King of Egypt.
A host of well-known, international opera singers will headline the performance. The performers include Belgian Mickael Spadaccini, Korean Sae-Kyung Rim, Czech Eliska Weissova and Greek Aris Argiris. There are a total of seventy singers in the production including the National Choir of Ukraine “DUMKA”. In addition to the vocalists, eighty musicians of the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine will perform the musical score.
Hatshepsut was the only female Pharoh of Egypt who ruled over 3,500 years ago. The temple is located between the city of Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. It is also known as the Djeser-Djeseru, which means the “Holy of Holies”. The Temple of Hatshepsut is a reconstruction of the original which was destroyed.
Tickets to the performance sold out quickly. One of the biggest tourist trends worldwide is attending shows, performances, exhibits, and festivals held at historic sites while traveling.
